Hi Aine! I decided to become a scientist because it was the best fit for all of my interests and strengths. I really enjoyed math and science when I was a kid, and I especially liked asking questions. I think that if you are choosing science as your career, it’s really important to care about what you are researching. That way, when you get tired or bored or sick, you can remember why you started doing science in that area in the first place. For me, I grew up on a dairy farm, and now I do research working towards improving the life of dairy cows and calves. Other people might research cancer because they’ve lost loved ones to the disease, or they might love collecting rocks, so they want to continue that as a career. I hope that helps!
